I’m a local girl to the area and know Ashbourne like the back of my hand. Before working in the veterinary industry, I worked as a nursery nurse and personal assistant to my Stepdad’s structural engineering company.
For the last 8 years I’ve worked within farm veterinary practice, and not being from a farming background, this took some getting used to, but I think I’ve cracked it now! I work behind the scenes a lot of the time based in the office, so getting out to see everyone at the local shows is one of my favourite things. I love everything about my job – no day is the same which keeps me on my toes.
Outside of work, my three girls keep me busy most of the time. I’m a big fan of the Marvel franchise and love nothing more than cosy night in watching Thor! I also have a Black Labrador called Benson who loves a long walk around the countryside.

A farm vet for over 20 years, I’ve been in Derbyshire for 15 years now, working with farmers throughout the region and feel lucky to have formed many productive and longstanding relationships in that time.
I have a broad range of interests from dairy fertility and lameness, through to building design and how improving the environment can help us maximise animal health and productivity – drawing on my knowledge and experience to come up with workable solutions for our clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy walking and cycling, and looking after our small flock of sheep, though I don’t get to indulge as often as I’d like as I’m usually busy providing Dad’s taxi service to our two children!

Hi, I’m Chris. I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2016, and spent a year internship working in Derbyshire before relocating to the South West for the next 5 years. I worked predominantly in dairy, with some herds numbering over 1000 head, but there were also plenty of beef herds and sheep flocks to keep me occupied. Having grown tired working within a faceless corporate structure (which are all too common), I took the decision to forge my own path as an independent vet in charge of my own practice!
I’m Derbyshire born and bred, with my beloved Derby County making me desperately miserable most weekends.

Since graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2020, I have worked at two other local farm animal practices. Until recently, I have been furthering my education in cattle health management, undertaking research and teaching vet students at Nottingham University. I joined Peakfield Farm Vets in Spring 2024 and am enjoying being back to front-line vetting.
I particularly enjoy analysing farm data to identify areas of underperformance and using this insight to help clients improve productivity and welfare in their herds.

Originally from North Yorkshire, I graduated in 2019 and went straight into farm animal practice where I’ve had the privilege of working with, and learning from, a variety of farmers across a range of systems.
I am crazy passionate about everything involving calf health, growth and performance – I could happily discuss calves for hours on end. On dairy farms, I aim to work with farmers to help achieve maximum potential and production from heifers by boosting growth and immunity in early life; to this end, I run a ‘Healthy Heifer’ club. I do also enjoy sheep work and run the ‘Flock Health’ club where I have a growing interest in effectively and sustainably managing worm burdens in a changing climate.
When not talking about calves or doing worm egg counts, I am usually found cold water swimming, hiking in the Peak District or gardening at mine and my partner’s cottage in Church Broughton.
